Strategic Mercury Management: Handling, Removal and Control in Oil and Gas Industry
Workshop Overview
This comprehensive and practical course incorporates all aspects of mercury removal with particular focus on the practical aspects of evaluating analytical results, designing, selecting, installing and operating mercury removal units. Mercury issues are explored for onshore and offshore production facilities including chemical plants, refineries, LNG, LPG and oil and gas production plants. A proper understanding is essential in assuring the production systems operate safely and experiences minimal problems. Each type of plant faces different challenges and they illustrate the range of issues that mercury can cause.
The course maintains a balance between lecture and in class exercises. In class work sessions are distributed through the seminar to emphasize the principles covered. Discussion of the real mercury related issues the
participants are facing is encouraged.
In addition, “case study” exercises explore the challenges and conflicting priorities faced by an operating plant including the design and “trouble shooting” pitfalls often encountered in the industry.
