Rate Transient Analysis / Production Decline Analysis (RTA)
Workshop Overview
Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) went through a long journey from Arnold and Arps plots in the first half of 20th century through Fetkovitch in 80-thies and Blasingname into a modern software aided RTA. The broader use of permanent pressure gauges in wells enabled the introduction of comprehensive interpretation of production decline.
This course provides structured information about the interpretation methods starting with type curves through the contemporary state of art software-based analysis. It demonstrates how Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA) interacts with RTA. A dedicated module presents examples of RTA and PTA analysis and interpretation. Further it demonstrates how the results of RTA can enable production predictions including sensitivities. RTA of gas reservoirs is handled in a separate module.
