Workshop Overview
The course is designed as a fundamentals course for engineers and a “why is it so” course for technicians. A total approach is to be used to try to understand how the component works with the fluid in the system. The course begins by examining how to describe what we want (compared to what we get). From this starting point, pressure, level, temperature, and flow instruments are examined, with an emphasis on how they cannot give the data needed. This course will also examine the aspects & issues involved with basic instruments, and why it is so difficult to get the correct value; if the data is used in process control, then why it is difficult to get excellent process control from these basic instruments.
